Brazil is full of these beautiful, tan, athletic ´eye candy` and they come in 4 different flavors. In Rio there is the Preppy-type (wannabe playboy), the Pitboy , the Neo-hippie and the Player.
Reminder: These are generalizations and should not be taken too seriously.

.

The Preppy

Surfer by day, surfer by night. The Preppy-types always wear club clothes and a pretty face. They might even spend more time in front of the mirror getting ready to go out than you! At night, this type can usually be found in the hottest clubs of the moment, and during the day on the beach in Zona Sul (South Zone) playing football (soccer) or foot-volley. The Preppy is the most common type around.

The Pitboy
The Pitboy is the type you will see almost as often as the Preppy, especially around Zona Sul. These Vin Diesel types are dedicated to their bodies. They are strong and tan and usually choose Jiujitsu as their favorite sport. You can probably guess what comes next. When you mix a lot of testosterone, alcohol and lack of women with a jiujitsu master...
Yes, a few Pitboys, true to nature, are unstoppable in fights. Watch out!

The Neo-Hippie

If you prefer love and not war, I would recommend going with the Neo-hippie.
Although, these artsy-fartsy types are the least common, there are still plenty to choose from in Lapa and Santa Teresa. This type usually lives wherever the wind blows them, and they prefer peacefully sitting on the beach making jewelry, singing and socializing as their favorite sports.

The Player

Last, but not least, we have the Player who can also be found on the beach in Zona Sul jumping in for an occasional game of foot-volley, but usually prefers talking about money and how to make more of it! These are the eligible bachelors and ultimate players. They know what we want, and they have the ability to give it to us.

We have all heard of `Latin Lovers,` but what does that mean exactly? Here are some of the answers to questions you may have about Brazilian men.

Brazilian women usually meet men through mutual friends. So, get out there and make some Brazilian friends. You never know who they could introduce you to. Brazilians are open, friendly and helpful people, and when it comes to conversation, Cariocas have no shame. So, exchange phone numbers or emails and make plans to meet up again.

In Brazil, the men are very fond of public affection and are romance experts. So, grab a caipirinha and ask someone to teach you to dance the Samba or Forró. Get ready to be close, because the Brazilians will have it no other way when it comes to dancing.

The men will tell you how beautiful you are, or for that matter, that you are the most beautiful woman they have ever seen!
Don’t be surprised if you are lip-locked within the first 5 minutes of your conversation and be advised about the motels. Remember, that in Brazil, motels are for one thing, and one thing only. Sex! You have the power to accept the proposal or not, but just know what you are agreeing to.

No matter which type you choose, the important thing is to have fun and don’t go falling in love on the first night!

When you are trying to relax on the beach, you are sure to be approached by at least one of the types, most likely, the Hippie. These docile men, will try to sell you a necklace or maybe even make you a free ring that costs less than 50 cents. But, it’s the thought that counts, right?

If you are in a bar or club, a man may even send over his friend to tell you he thinks you are cute or send a note! This may sound juvenile to you, but it is considered normal here in Brazil.

Don’t feel obligated to speak to every man who comes your way. If the men think that you are easy, you will be batting them away the whole evening which can get quite annoying.

Dos and Don’ts

Here are a few dos and don’ts that should help you along.

• Don’t hesitate to accept the offer of a kiss from any man who strikes your fancy.

• Do come armed with a pen and paper to ensure you will be able to pass out your phone number and email address, but don’t expect them to call the next day.

• Do keep a positive attitude and play it cool when the annoying guy at the end of the bar won’t take a hint and give up.

• Do ask a cute Carioca to show you around their beautiful city.

• Don’t believe them when they tell you that you are the women of their dreams no matter how much you want to.

• Don’t be surprised if you go to the motel and your man pays for it by the hour.
