Jardim Botanico
(Botanical Gardens)
2500 Plants are bound to be worth something. Visually they are all green, aromatically, they are over the rainbow of smells.

Farmer’s Market
20 Tropical fruits plus 20 vegetables plus fish and meats are bound to feel like the Disney of aromas. (Check Fruit-Brazil’s fruit tasting tour to find the weekly market schedule and location.)

Tijuca Forest or Paineiras
Hike through an Atlantic tropical forest and smell the earthy, fresh aroma of nature.

Churrascaria Palace
43 cuts of meat, all straight from the grill, some on skillet carts! Carnivore heaven!

Grumari or Recreio Beach
Beaches far away from strong influences like factories, smog or city pollution.

Vidigal or Rocinha (or any favela)
A funky, almost nasty mix of odors.

Saara (market area in Centro)
A potpourri of everything, from nice to foul to food to chinese electronics.

Maracana during a soccer match
The smell of testosterone-filled sweat beating the layer of deodorant.

Garota de Ipanema
Their skillets are taken to clients’ tables, so it becomes picanha steak aroma galore!

Marina da Gloria
Tropical marina smell, yet not too pungent!

Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas
Not surprisingly, most parts smell like a lake.

Galeto (Chicken) restaurants in Copa
Their grills are right by the entrance instead of in the back kitchen, so all the customers are free to smell-all-they-want.
